TA: Hi, this is TA from TwilightActors.com and...
Justin: Justin...
TA: from Twilight. How did you land the role of Eric in Twilight?
Justin: I auditioned. I auditioned *long pause, then laughs* I'm kidding with you guys. No, I auditioned for the movie like any other movie. You know, I didn't have, like, an in with the director or anything, so just the normal casting process. I maybe went to four, maybe a few auditions. The first one is usually like a preview where you go in, the casting director sees it, see if you're right for the part, and the next one is like a callback where they see you with other actors that could potentially do the part, how you rank with them. Then they bring you in with the director and they bring you in for a chemistry read with the other actors, they pair you up with different actors to see your chemistry with them. We had some improv auditions where they had you do a lot of improv.
TA: When you were doing your pre-screening, with the other actors, were you with any of the actors that eventually got cast?
Justin: Yea. Me and Angela got paired up pretty early on and me and Christian got paired up early on. And then towards the end, the later auditions everyone who got cast as, like, a human, we all did an audition together with TA, and most of the people in that room got cast. A few changes here and there but, yea.
TA: What was your experience like with Twilight, filming the movie and everything surrounding it?
Justin: Just in it for the ride? I don't know'I don't even really feel like I understand, being on the inside of it, understanding how big it is yet. I mean, it's my job and that part's really cool'that I'm in the movie, and I'm in A movie. But, it's just, as an actor, you just do what you do, but I don't know if I fully'I think, maybe 10 years after it's done, I'll look back and go 'whoa, that was something'wow, yea.'
TA: Are you really close with any cast members?
Justin: Yea, I'm really close with Mike. Michael Welch'who plays Mike Newton in the movie. I'm close to all my co-stars. But, certain people you spend a lot more time with, and in my case, it's the other students in the school, like all the other human beings. Obviously we shoot together all the time and our schedules are the same.
TA: Do you all hang out together outside of filming?
Justin: Yes.
TA: Are you living in Los Angeles now?
Justin: Half the time in Los Angeles, half the time in Orange County.
TA: What are some scenes from New Moon that you can tell us about?
Justin: You can expect more cafeteria scenes, and more stuff at the school, obviously, because we're students at the school, and most of our interaction with Bella is at school, and anything she's doing outside of school, she's hanging out with some vamps or werewolves or whatever. So it's mostly school stuff.
TA: Is there anything you can tell us about Eclipse?
Justin: I had a question for her. You know you're living in Florida, you're from Florida and there's that song called California, you know?
Kenny: *laughs* yeah? That's used in every single California-based show
Justin: yea, but like, when it comes on the radio, living in Florida, do you sing along with it?
Kenny: Yea, only because of the tune, though. I'm used to the tune.
Justin: But you're living in Florida but you're singing a song about California, so you're like *singing* 'California'
Kenny: But you know what? It reminds me basically of the TV Show I've seen it on, you know what I mean? I think that's pretty much it
Justin: yeah, but you do sing along with it?
Kenny: Yea, definitely.
Justin: *laughs*
TA: Well it's a catchy tune, though.
Justin: yeah, it is.
Kenny: But I change it sometimes to *singing* 'Floridaaa'
Justin: Yea, exactly!
TA: I'm going to start doing that!
Justin: *singing* ' New Jerseyyy, here we come'
Kenny: Okay, I need you on stage in a few minutes
Justin: *still singing* 'New Hampshire, Maine' *laughs* 'Colorado, Montana, here we come'
TA: Idaho?
Justin: *singing* 'Idaho, Hawaii, here we come'
TA: Would you rather be a werewolf or a vampire?
Justin: I would be a hybrid.
TA: A hybrid?
(voice in background) A prius?
Justin: Yeah! I'd be a Prius of supernatural animals. I'd like to have the strength and attitude of a wolf, but I'd like to have the eternal life and brooding, good looks of a vampire
TA: that's an interesting combination
Justin: Well, they don't exist anyway so why can't I be a hybrid?(voice in background) that sounds like a fairy
Justin: a fairy? *laughs* okay, I don't want to be a fairy. I don't want to be a flying hairy thing with wings.
TA: So how has Twilight affected your life?
Justin: I don't know'I still eat at the same places, hang out with the same friends, I still do the exact same things, except for when I walk, all of a sudden, like, sparkles will just *makes a shooting noise* shoot out from like behind me and I have my own theme song and people just know who I am.
TA: So what's your theme song?
Justin: *thinks* *sings* 'California'
TA: one last question. Do you have any projects lined up for the future?
Justin: As of right now, no. I don't. But I am talking to a few people about a few things, but nothing like concrete yet.
TA: is there anything you want to tell your fans?
Justin: Thank you and just know that when you see me you're going to see *makes the shooting noise* sparkle and music and the song 'California' but it changes when I go to *singing* 'New Hampshire'
TA: So what's your theme song now?
Justin: *singing* 'Florida, here we come' or 'we're here' *laughs*
TA: thank you
Justin: Alright, yea, no problem.
